The Beanstalk Children’s Garden

Gardens at Sunset is located in the magical Beanstalk Children’s Garden at KCCG’s headquarters in Swope Park. Guests can walk with friends throughout this beautiful setting and mingle with gardeners and program directors while enjoying tasty beverages and delicious food.

Gardens at Sunset Host – Kadesh Flow!

Hailing from Tuscaloosa, AL by way of Spanish Fort, AL, Ryan “Kadesh Flow” Davis moved to Kansas City to start a career in tech after earning an MBA from the University of Alabama in 2013. Classically trained and boasting jazz, hip hop, blues and funk backgrounds, he eventually took a leap of faith and made music performance and recording his full time vocation. This career path involves an immense amount of creating and performing; it also consists of fundraising for various musical projects. As such, Desh found himself bumbling around getting things funded from time to time. A colleague eventually suggested he try getting paid for writing grants, and he subsequently stumbled into KCCG HQ looking for a part time gig.

They hired him. Go figure.

We are now here, four completely and totally precedented years after that interesting decision. Currently, Desh is balancing traveling pretty much everywhere to perform while recording incessantly with collaborating with KCCG Executive Director Jennifer Meyer and Director of Development Madeline Marak to ensure that KCCGs 5 programs have the resources and support needed to help Kansas City communities take more control of their food access and nutrition security.

We’d like to thank Strange Days Brewing Company for being the beverage sponsor for Gardens at Sunset 2024. Strange Days will offer several craft beers from their wide selection. Wine and domestic beer will also be available.

Golden Ticket Raffle

Purchase a Golden Raffle ticket for your chance to win your choice between three amazing trip options. Tickets are $100 each, and only 200 are available. Purchase from home or at the event – but make sure to get these while you can!

A winner will be announced at 8:15 p.m. from the stage in the Beanstalk Children’s Garden. You do not need to be present to win. Click the button below for details for all three trip options and how you can purchase your ticket.

You will be able to purchase Golden Raffle Tickets online at noon on August 29th.

Silent Auction

We’ll have an amazing silent auction and mercantile for guests to peruse throughout the evening. Items are displayed throughout the garden and orchard, and can also be viewed from the convenience of your phone with our mobile bidding app.

All bidding for the Silent Auction will be done from your smartphone. Be sure to bring your phone charged and ready! If you need assistance in setting up your phone or placing bids, volunteers will be available at the check in area to help.

You can even join in the fun from home! Watch for an instructional email or check back here the week of the event for instructions to register and bid from your phone.

You will be able to begin bidding on auction items at noon on September 5th.

KCCG Programs Station

Learn about all of KCCG’s impact and work in the community by visiting our programs station and meet representatives from each program including Schoolyard Gardens, Community Partner Gardens, Giving Grove Orchards, Individual & Family Gardens, and the Beanstalk Children’s Garden.

You’ll also have a chance to visit with KCCG staff and garden volunteers from across the city.

Test your aim with our collection of beer, wine, spirits, mixers, kombucha, basil and more! $10 for 2 tosses, $20 for 5 tosses.

Honeycomb Gift Card Grab

Mercantile

The Mercantile will feature garden-fresh items such as jams, jellies, salsas, herb blends, and honey all thoughtfully prepared by KCCG staff and volunteers. From the sweet simplicity of jams featuring Beanstalk-grown strawberries, to the zesty kick of our salsas, every item has been made to capture the flavors of this season’s harvest.

Floral Centerpieces

Take home a piece of the garden with one of the centerpieces from tonight’s event. Centerpieces located on dining tables are available for purchase. Large (quart jar) arrangements are $20, small (half-pint jar) arrangements are $10. Reserve your favorite arrangement with the card on the table and pick up starting at 7:30 p.m. Please pay for centerpieces at the mercantile on your way out.
